SPECIALTY
ELASTOMERS & THIN FILM COATINGS
Demanding environments and excessive wear are struggles for
any engineering team. Pierce would like to partner with you
to overcome some of these obstacles. Our engineers have over
15 years of fusing solutions, release experience and wear knowledge
essential to your design.
With our cost cutting core technology
and our coating expertise we can increase the life and reduce
the cost of your product. We recognize your need to cut costs.
Your most efficient way of reducing costs is through use of
our superior life cores (inertia
welding or PierceFORMING™).
The core and coating design directly impacts the ability to
reclaim your product. Our customers benefit from our extensive
experience in design for remanufacturing and reclamation. We
can work as a team to develop a product that can be reclaimed
and recoated.

Pierce Engineering takes into consideration each of the following
design parameters:
- Electrical & heat conductivity
- Homogeneous surface hardness
- Service life
- Surface quality
- Precise concave, convex or cylindrical line form
- Abrasion resistance
PROCESS
ADVANTAGES
- Reduced wear and increased life: our coatings
are specifically designed to meet the demands of highly abrasive
environments.
- Increased
nip width and release at high speeds: composite hardness
and nip control through design of the coating.
- Various ranges of durometer:
5 Asker C -> 80
shore A
- Thermal transfer: Through core and coatings
design we achieve your required rates.

PTFE & PFA
Coatings
Heating rollers are subject to the influences of temperature, print media and
abrasion. New, durable, electrically conductive coatings consisting of new
PFA and PTFE mixtures enhance resistance to these influences and thus prolong
equipment
service life.
A special process is used to give Teflon®-coated heating rollers
an extremely homogeneous surface structure without polishing traces—a
level of quality that conventional processes simply cannot achieve.
• Molding: liquid injection molding (LIM)
• Finishing: rubber grinding
• Lapping: sanding & polishing
Reclamation
Our
most popular cost reduction program involves the reclamation of
machined steel or aluminum roller cores for reuse. In this
process, the used rollers
are stripped down to the bare metal, and then re-coated using the same
methods and
materials as the original. The completed rebuilt roller is the functional
equivalent of the original, at a typical cost savings of 10-40%, with
reduced environmental
impact.
Prototype and Short Run
You can have the convenience of working with one organization to
develop tooling, make prototypes and begin production. Pierce
provides its
customers with full
integration which allows for fast turnaround of prototypes and short
run product. Our in-house tooling lab and low volume production facility
will
give you the
edge you need to get product to your engineering design team.
